I really wonder if people are honestly looking at the issues of this election rather than the hype? It is pretty clear to me that this nation truly needs change. Thanks for the comments.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with him and his extended clan during this facet of his life. He's a good man with a larger than life heart for people. Reports in the Boston area pretty much speak of him as the father figure for JFK and RFK's kids. I'll keep him and all of the children in my prayers.

Spoken like a true die hard Republican Rwharens. I'll let you follow the blind ignorance that you forever propose in your comments. Sometimes I think your comments are relevant but as always you missed the intention of the post.

How about we take away any age requirement for military service? It's easy to speak about this issue when it does not effect you as an individual. It strikes me odd that the people most willing to back going to war would not or could not put a gun in their own hands. That is hypocritical and ignorant. Some might call it cowardly. When 26% of the people back the President on his job rating then he has a problem and it is not the military's problem. People do not volunteer for a war that they know is and was wrong from the start. We used to be a nation fighting for what is right and now we are fighting for Wall Street.

My thoughts are that the DSS workers have to somehow justify their existence and in doing so they need to feed numbers to their superiors. Much like the body count of days gone by in Vietnam. Numbers were more important than actual facts. Thanks for the comments to all!

Doesn't the same scenario work for Obama rwahrens? Wise words indeed!:)

Am I the only one with a ten hour delay from when I submit news?

Thank you for your well thought out comment MplsVala! Your comment points out the cry for change our nation needs. I'm sorry that your experience in politics was tainted but it is the dirtiest business there is next to one other line of work that I won't mention. Personally, I would hope you would reconsider staying a Democrat... if you are not I apologize... There is a better place for the party, right now it is in limbo and your voice can be heard if you merely find the right ears to listen. Don't ask me who they are in your neighborhood but there is always a politician with an ear for a squeeky wheel. :D

I couldn't have argued the points better MplsVala!

How many decades of a Bush Clinton dynasty do we need to see that it isn't about us but about them. Somebody line up Jeb... Politics is a kill or be killed paint ball battle and sometimes the ones running don't know when to admit that the fight is over. Some folks believe that Hillary Clintion is a new candidate but she really isn't. More of the same is all that she is selling and out nation and our government needs fresh blood that is not pandered by the polling numbers of what we want to hear. Playing to the middle of the numbers is not what we need.

RW makes a good point on the cost coming down to be more affordable. At the latest Auto Expo GM had a prototype car that was supposed to be electric but it had no power system because GM does not have the research dollars to look into the batteries to power the car. They interviewed several of the executives and GM isn't sure that electric is the way to go as yet. That leads me to think that GM will follow the same path as the same company that made the best stage coach.

Did Rwarens put you up to do this contest??? LOL ROFL!

I saw a piece recently on television about some of the breakthroughs in electric cars and let me tell ya, the technology is amazing. The brothers that do the talk radio show on cars checked a bunch of different models an one of them was a sports car that did 0 to 60 in seconds! :o

WHat about all those books of S&H Green Stamps!!! I remember as a kid my brother and I licking the damn things for hours for my mother to paste them into the books... To this day I will not lick an envelop or a stamp...lol!:)

Your point was well made SusieK and when I pulled up to the pump today here in New England the gas price was $3.57. What I found ironic is President Bush said recently, "If you don't like the price of gas then don't buy it" I heard that statement on talk radio in Boston today. Just like his father before him, he has no clue as to what the average American is suffering through. Millionaires and isolationists have that personality I guess.B)

I have to disagree with you on many of the thoughts of Karl Rove. KR sold the Bush message by staying on message no matter the outcome. Stay the course and continue to recite the same message till it stuck and people believed it. Asking Karl Rove how to run a Democrat Campaign is like asking the Devil what kind of food would Jesus like for the last supper! Karl Rove is a dirty political politics operative and he should have seen jail time for his actions in the White House under his service to President Bush. :):o

I agree with wharens??? I don't begrudge someone keeping their heritage close. Hell I do it all the time in my private life. There is nothing wrong with that thought or in doing so. In the workplace is a total seprate issue. Do you think the politically correct atmosphere of the last twenty or so years has screwed up the system?

ethwc, I think what it all comes down to is that we have had no corporate responisbility other than to the almighty dollars they can pocket. I think you would have to agree that if the government allows corporations to play recklessly in the gray area and continuously looks the other way that the CEO's will push as far as they can into that gray area. I believe the FBI is currently investigated several large banks for their role in the current foreclosure and home lending crisis. I have to also agree with rwahrens on renters rights. Ten plus years ago we owned rental property and the renters had more rights than we did as owners. Going back fifteen years we lived in a property that we rented and it was foreclosed on and we simply continued to pay rent to the bank instead of the previous owner.

If you look around the room you are sitting in, everything you see is more or less dependent on oil. From the plastics in your computer to the wires insulated with oil based compounds in the walls and in all your electronic devices. I have to agree with MplsVala in that our nation can not afford or should condone the policies of President Bush. Not for the life of me can I see how I government can sit on the sidelines while its people are held ransom by the so called "oil market" and do nothing. When is the price for gas or home heating to high? Will ten dollars be high enough per gallon of gas or will one hundred billion in profit per quarter be high enough till we all say enough is enough?

When the owner of this site asks me to leave then I will bow out honorably. I don't think you have that title. Feel free to badger any post's I have and enjoy the spectrum that is To the Center. Not all thoughts will please you I'm sure. Take care of you

I would like to add to the article by stating that the Pope will be addressing the issue of child molestation by priests on his trip through America. According to CNN, MSNBC and other news networks, he too is ashamed of what has been done and he will address it as the leader of the Catholic faith. That is what this post was originally all about.

Your mind is closed to the position I stand on because you have no faith or understanding of what it is to have faith. I've answered your questions, you just didn't like the answers.

Where in my post did you see even one Biblical quote? I wrote it and there are none. Where did you see any refrence to any request for money of any kind? One of the issues that I find troubling with someone that does not believe in a higher power or God is that they tend to try and narrow it down how much more intelligent they are than a believer. Well good for you! You proved your point and won your side of the arguement. I believe your only points in this discussion are proven that faith has no place in anyones life. Personally, I'll stick to being ignorant and not worthy of discussing the matter further with you.

The answer to that question is in each individuals heart. There is no clear answer to your question. No two people or even two Catholics are alike.

You can find many examples of Americans that have followed their hearts as opposed to the church's strict guidelines. John F. Kennedy for one, Senator John Kerry for another. On the issue of abortion that you spoke of. Clearly I do not think it is the right choice for any woman but who am I to decide what any woman can or can not do with her body? That is a personal choice for that woman and my being a man should have no say in that discussion. Of course if it were one of my daughters seeking an abortion I would counsel her on the choice of adoption feverently but that is a discussion between her parents and her and nobody elses business. It can also be explained in the fact that Americans are raised more or less as free and independent thinkers. In that same line of thought then it can be said that we do question our religion no matter what faith we follow and in my mind that is never a bad thing. That old saying of question anyone over thirty from back in the 60's and 70's just might have stuck. Sidebar To MplsVala... Thank you for the comments! E for excellent on your thoughts.
