Alan Whitcomb, a 45-year-old man, died in a Garden Grove pedestrian accident on December 3, 2008 when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. According to this news report in The Orange County Register, the 12/3/08 fatal accident occurred while Whitcomb was crossing Garden Grove Boulevard at Yockey Street. Whitcomb was taken to an area hospital where he died. The driver has not been cited or arrested pending an investigation by the Garden Grove Police Department.
This is the second fatal pedestrian accident at that exact same intersection in the last nine months. In April, a 70-year-old grandmother was killed crossing the street at the same location with her grandchild. Thankfully, the toddler in that case was uninjured. There is no question that the City of Garden Grove needs to look into this intersection and see if there is a dangerous condition that needs to be fixed.
I know this is under local news, but I can't figure out which state's Garden Grove is in question. I suppose that the Orange County should pinpoint it, but I'm just not that up on my counties nationwide.
Apparently, this is a city in Orange County, CA. I didn't find the news article above but did learn that several cities in California including Garden Grove are attempting to enforce Federal law concerning medical marijuana by arresting patients and seizing their "stashes" and then refusing to return the drug after the court throws out the case. I don't know about the rest of you but I sleep far more soundly at night knowing that police are busily arresting and investigating these heinous criminals who use marijuana for medical purposes.
Geez Louise, I'm deeply anti-violence, but this sort of thing just makes me want to smack some sense into whoever is making these evil decisions. I'm getting really tired of this crap. Bogus arrests to facilitate theft. WTF?!?
