The Orange County Sheriff’s department took Casey Anthony into custody again on Friday night at her home. Anthony was released on bail last week, but was arrested again for check fraud.
Anthony was being held on a $3,000 bond of new charges relating to uttering a forged instrument, fraudulent use of personal information, and petty theft, said Capt. Angelo Nieves.
According to reports from the Sheriff’s office, Anthony used a friend’s checkbook to buy items at a local Target and Winn-Dixie store. Anthony also wrote a check for cash in July.
The 22-year-old is knee deep with the law. She is being charged with child neglect, making false statements and obstructing justice.
"The allegations surfaced during the investigation but we had to do our due diligence," said Nieves.
The $500,000 bond posted a week ago was withdrawn relating to the disappearance of 3-year-old Caylee, according to California bail bondsman Tony Padilla. With the bond withdrawn, it makes it unlikely Anthony will get out again.
"The bond was surrendered based on the latest charges, new evidence and heightened security concerns," said Padilla.
According to police, Anthony is a person of interest in the case of her missing daughter, Caylee. She has not been seen since the middle of June. Anthony did not report her daughter missing to authorities until July.
Several people from the California bail bonds company helped Anthony make bail in hopes that she would talk about her daughter’s disappearance out of jail. However, Padilla does not believe the girl is alive anymore.
"Casey's attorney, Jose Baez, diligently tried to contact authorities to surrender his client. The arrest and the drama at the Anthony home tonight only added insult upon injury for the family of the kidnapped child," said Padilla.
The State Attorney's office alongside Anthony’s attorney had discussed granting her limited immunity, according to e-mail messages from prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick. The offer lets Anthony deliver statements to prosecutors, however, they could not be used in court. Any evidence found due to the statements can withstand the court.
Burdick said the offer is scheduled to expire Tuesday.
It seems that this article should rightly be under local news rather than US news. The disappearance of the child has apparently not been resolved to any degree yet: kidnapping? murder? Perhaps the story will grow legs when the authorities either find evidence leading to a legitimate arrest or are careful not to harass the "suspect" unless they have sufficient evidence to pursue her on the child's disappearance. The story sounds as if the authorities are confused and are taking relastively random action. No doubt there is more info as yet not released.
The authorities basically have found evidence, just not a body. The local forensics lab determined that an aerosol sample showed that a body had been decomposing in the back of the woman's car. Her child is missing. Sounds pretty bad.
