"Liberal Media" Protects McCain Yet Again

First, CNN's Wolf Blitzer edited out footage of McCain campaign surrogate Joe Lieberman whispering a correction into McCain's ear after he mixed up Sunnis and Shiites. Now, CBS has conspicuously removed footage that shows McCain's poor grasp of the timeline of events in Iraq.

During an interview with CBS anchor Katie Couric, McCain referred to the "surge" strategy beginning the major reduction of violence in Anbar province, since dubbed "The Anbar Awakening." Only problem is, the so-called Anbar Awakening in reality occurred in February of 2007, just as the first surge brigades were arriving in the area.

When CBS aired the interview, they spliced in footage of McCain answering a different question, ostensibly to cover up his latest gaffe.

This story was brought to my attention via Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Internet site "jedreport.com" made a YouTube video showing side-by-side the original interview and what actually aired on CBS. Those who don't care for Olbermann's commentary on it can skip the video to the :42 second mark.

I guess someone has to save him from himself. I'm beginning to think he may be as big a dunderhead as commander in chimp Bush.

The media is worse than liberal - its whoreable. I will always consider its worship of Henry Kissinger as nothing less than truly pathetic.

It makes one wonder, if McCain is not suffering from foot in mouth disease - a malady there is currently no cure for, but doctors are working hard on this malady.Cool

I think nothing can stop the gaffe machine that is McCain. The man is a treasure trove of hilarious missteps, bogus assertions, and childish campaign antics. I've seen student council elections run more effectively than his campaign.

Who are the clowns or special people who are buying McCain's load of crap? You never seem to meet any but polls keep saying they are about half of us.
#6 | ChrisNesi on August 16 2008 13:45:52
I don't get it either. I'm hoping the polls are wrong like they were in 2004, only this time I hope the error favors the Democrats.

My guess they would be members of the "Moral Minority" - a group of christians, who are hell-bent on antgonizing everyone they can and those who are not so moved by their Pandemonium and plethora of lies and inuendo are summarily dismissed from their ranks.

One good thing though. These days when a major media outfit covers up a gaffe you can bet that someone with actual journalistic skills and ethics will uncover the cover up and expose it on the net.

Oh gimme a break. You wanna talk media bias? Let's talk media bias. At the Saddleback Church debate, Obama couldn't answer one question straight, and the CNN media gave him a total pass, while outrageously mocking McCain for considering people earning $5 million or above per year, as rich. And let's get something straight: McCain is a big enough man to accept criticism and roll on. What Senator Lieberman whispered in his ear was more of a technicality, if you actually go over and read transcripts. Now that you're a watchdog for media bias, take a nice big pad of paper and go watch CNN for an hour. I guarantee you'll find enough pro-Obama bias to fill it up completely.

No doubt media bias is a reality whether funded by free market capitalists or by the state, the non independant media will always pander to its bosses. After all we all compromise for our pay check. Plus, we have to be sure that what we consider "bias" isn't just labelling an objective news story as biased because we don't like the truth of it. For instance, if I dislike McCain and support Obama I will most likely see more anti-Obama stories in the media and visa-versa if I dislike Obama and support McCain I am more likely to spot more anti McCain positions in the media.
