I love your contests. They prove to me how little I know that isn't influenced by media bias, but then, everyone here is obviously influenced by the media they subscribe to whether it's government propagandists, like Fox, or distant foreign perspectives on American activities overseas, like the BBC world news service. No, as rwahrens has pointed out I only participate during contests, and I admit it, because most of my opinions would be to annoying to hear year round and even though I often go after American's perceptions of themselves in my postings, and I am left of centre and yes, heavens, I'm a Canadian, I do like most actual Americans I meet and I lived in the US for one year, graduating from High School there and many of my ancestors were very early Americans like the early 17th century Merritts of New York and FitzRandolphs of New Jersey, (built the ninth house built in NJ), and Captain James Avery, Puritan, of Connecticut Colony and some of the earliest Mormons, Andrew Rose baptized by Joe Smith in 1833, died along the Platte in Nebraska in 1850 following Brigham Young west..etc..so I do have some roots in the US (and lots of cousins too) but also I admit a great deal of trepidation about your powerful nation's current ability to exercise world authority, particularly military power, judiciously..so I try to express these viewpoints in this site's exciting contests. Great way to hone writing skills and struggle with my own limitations as a communicator
