Well, with the help of Google’s archive, we’ve pulled up some of the photos of New York Governor Eliot Spitzer’s favorite girl. Even though her MySpace page was deleted, it gives an interesting look into just what a few thousand dollars will get you.
While on one hand you can clearly see that she’s an attractive girl, on the other hand, she describes herself as, “I have been alone. I have abused drugs. I have been broke and homeless.”
On her page, she also includes clips of a song she recorded (she’s an aspiring musician), which she describes as: “This one was inspired by a guy, who taught me not to confuse my dreams with the sounds of the city … I hope you like it.”
Either way, the photos show what could be any 22-year-old girl posting on MySpace, and not the “prostitute” shots we’d normally expect. And to think, nobody thought it odd that Mr. Spitzer was bringing a girl literally with a few years of his oldest daughter to a hotel in D.C.? Not one person in the lobby saw this younger woman and thought, “Wow, that’s odd”?
There are a couple of sites with these and other shots of her, including her family (taken from her brother's myspace page). She really is quite striking, with a very expressive face. I think, if she could obtain funding, that she could get a college education and become successful, should she work at it. Such attractive people often find it easy to attract sufficient attention on the road to success.
And she wouldn't be the first former high priced call girl to find such success.
I don't see how she can be blamed. It was the hypocracy of the governer that brought this to light, nothing that she did. True, she'll always be seen as a former prostitute, but others have overcome that stigma before. Her actions have been straightforward, and besides the prostitution, she did nothing wrong to actually say she'll be linked with infamy.
I was actually able to view her MySpace page before it was deleted, as I am sure many others did because as I refreshed the page on the spot, her profile views went up plenty.
While I do feel like she got herself into this position, I do not think we should be exploiting this too much. Media relations is odd like that. People complain that we are focusing on this girl or celebrities and the such way too much rather than other issues, but yet, it is what they speak about and what causes discussion to form.
I do think this is newsworthy since he is the Gov. of NY (until Monday, at least), but how much of our time is it really worth after this? I think some precedents do need to be set, but this girl needs to be able to move on from this.
I am sure she will. The young are pretty resiliant, and if she can deal with the powerful like the NY governer (even if just in bed!) she should be able to get on with things, given the opportunity. If nothing else, the experience that the most powerful people in our country put their pants on one leg at a time and have secrets like his should prove a truly eye opening lesson!
Unfortunately girls who have become famous for their sexual exploits are only one-hit wonders. Heidi Fleiss and Monica Lewinsky come to mind. One keeps winding up in jail and the other has pretty vanished from view. Maybe on a personal they become a better person but I don't see Ashley becoming much more than an it girl for a couple of days. I sincerely hopes she does move on and is able to pursue her dreams, etc.
Very good points I do feel bad for the girl but she must have known something like this was going to occur. Great find on the pictures to bad her myspace is shutdown!
When I saw the pic of Spitzer with his wife at his side at the press conference. I called my husband and told him if he was high profile, and got caught porkin' a ho, if he wanted me at his side for a press conference where he was full of apologies for getting caught. I'd need him to match dollar for dollar what he paid the ho plus another $1000 for me not to shoot him point blank in front of the press.
