Welcome
Banning Christmas and Halloween

Advert
US News Share
According to the Chicago Sun Times, school districts in Oak Lawn, Illinois, are considering banning holiday traditions that are offensive to Muslims. The decisions will be made in the next few weeks and will be rendered by the principals of five Ridgeland schools.

Supt. of Schools Tom Smyth was quoted as saying, "We have to think about our purpose. Are we about teaching reading, writing and math or for parties or fund-raising during the day?"

Many parents feel this announcement will agitate members of this community, as decisions earlier this month were made to change the school's menu to exclude items containing pork.

Police on Wednesday responded to a call of a shouting match among parents regarding the schools holiday debate.

School officials are hoping to reach agreements to please all the students and parents involved.

Oldfart,
Please do not tell me what I mean. I say what I mean and mean what I say.
Maybe you can have a War between the S.H. the Athiests and the Agnostics. Then when we have a level playing field. One from your team, One from mine then it will get interesting.

seaman,
The higher power you refer to, is that the same one you tried so hard to tear down in one of you other posts? What I am getting here is you feel we are all evolving in our views of life, so therefore all of us are entiteled to feel any which way but the right way. If we dont like it we, because were evolving we will just keep changing it till we do?
Those that are not happy with the changes brought about, to sooth the feelings of every fringe group out there, well their just s--t out of luck.

You know what seaman, we are evolving, I would just like to know what we are evolving into. Can you explain your Utopia to me seaman? Tell me what is the Grand Design here?Cool

valoreo: maybe you don't know what you mean. Maybe you don't realize the implications of what you mean. Maybe you are thinking that you are part of majority that couldn't possibly lose if we applied what you mean.

In each of those cases, you would be wrong.

Oldfart,

Why dont you explain what seaman said. Then you can postulate on how right you are on every subject that has ever been brought into this forum.

Try leaving your vast hatred of everything that is Bush out of it. As seaman said we have been evolving for a long time. Since he was a boy. Thats around the same time as Bush was a boy.

PC is with us, only those of us that wish to keep some of these things as they were...we dont have that option. Only those that want to change everything in this country get those options.
So I say again what are we evolving into? Where are we going with this, and what will be the end result?

Oh, and please leave out the warm fuzzies.Cool

Valoreo: I have read thru everything i have posted on this subject and I note that I have not used the word "Bush" in any of them. So I am somewhat bemused by your comments. I don't need to explain what seaman said. He was expanding on what I said.

About your PC complaint. What you mean is that you want to keep things as they were - lilly white and Christian - except that it was never like that. It was racist and xenophobic. And, for the part of this country that is like you, it still is.

As for change. It has been shown recently that there is a genetic difference between the right wing and the left wing. The right wing is incapable of change and growth. The left wing is incapable of remaining still. If it is impossible to interbreed, I prefer to stay with the left wing.

valoreo - we all evolve in different plains of existence, that is to say, my experiences in life make me unique, just as yours do. Still we all mutate and change daily. My views on various subjects have evolved over time to reflect, who I am and some of those views have changed radically, while others have only seen changes of minutia proportions.

Oldfart,

I was asking seaman just what he meant by his statement on our evolving.
seaman did not qualify who he was speaking too. You on the otherhand felt a need to interject your idea of what I was saying.

So I say again, answer the question....What are we evolving into?

I referred to the FORUM with your inability to leave Bush out of almost everthing.

Now about our GENETIC differences, care to clarify that for the rest of us.Cool

I have reviewed my comments on this story and can find no reference to a "higher power" in any of my statements. Perhaps you could enlighten me, as to this remarkably absent statement.

seaman,

Sorry, when I said other post I should have stated that I meant on another story. The Folsom Street story.Cool
#39 | seaman93555 on October 09 2007 19:44:39
valoreo, I should have been more specific in my comments. Life is a series of events - some of those shared, even in the shared experiences, we all take away something different from the concept, since we all have different experiences. Our experiences largely interpret how we view those same experiences in life.

With all due respect, valoreo, I did not and have not belittled those who believe in God, that is their right, just as it is my right to believe, as I will. I have made peace with those, who beat me within an inch of my life some 30 years ago, but I will not appease them or others by attending their church or any other church that bases its principles upon "natural man being an enemy to God.

Study finds left-wing brain, right-wing brain:
http://www.latime...&cset=true

As for my inability to leave Bush out of everything, the sad sad fact is that he is involved in almost everything that I find to be bad about this administration and the current Government of the USA.

I could just wait another year or so and not say anything but Bush is more than a temporary threat to the US, his instability is a major threat to the safety of our country and the world. So I attack him whenever I get the chance. I can do little but I have to do something rather than sit back and say I never said anything and never did anything the way all the good germans did.
