A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia on Sunday, though there has been no word on damage caused by the event.
According to Reuters, the US Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the quake was 99 miles north of Ambon, Indonesia. The depth of the earthquake’s epicenter was about 32 miles.
The Meteorology and Geophysics Center of Indonesia (MGCI) said that the quake measured 7.0 in magnitude and that its epicenter was located 82 miles southeast of Labuha in North Mollucas with a depth of about 35 miles. MGCI added that there was no danger of a dangerous tsunami as a result of the event and that they did not release a warning.
There was, however, a miniscule chance for a small tsunami to occur in areas about 62 miles outside of the quake’s epicenter.
"The quake was felt in Ambon city but we haven't received any report of damage," said Ali Imron, an employee of MGCI, in an interview with Reuters.
The earthquake’s affects were felt around 9 p.m. EST, according to Reuters.
