Rheumatoid Arthritis Can Be Discovered by a Simple Blood Test
Advert
According to CNN, by only using a simple blood test, doctors will be able to identify a severe form of arthritis years before the patients might have symptoms of it. This very important news came as a result of a new research study that will appear in the February issue of Arthritis & Rheumatism.
The research was done in Sweden with samples from 342 people, 86 of whom went on to develop rheumatoid arthritis up to five years after giving blood. The people that developed the disease, rheumatoid arthritis, had higher levels of proteins and other substances involved in inflammation in their blood compared to those who didn't develop the disease.
At the moment, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affects about 1.3 million Americans and many more people all around the world.
