North Korea Appears to Reopen to Possibility of Talks

Following a meeting with Ri Gun, one of North Korea's uppermost nuclear negotiators, the rogue nation appears to once again be opening to the possibility of rejoining the Six-Party Talks, Reuters reported.

Although no US government officials were present at the negotiations, Ri Gun lead a series of talks with academics and former officials. No participants of any meetings, however, seemed to indicate any sort of a major breakthrough in negotiations.

North Korea has stated that it wants bilateral negotiations with the US before rejoining the Six-Party Talks, however the US wants participation in multi-lateral talks to be a requirement for their bilateral meeting.

An unidentified source has stated that there is a possibility that North Korea will rejoin talks as early as the end of the year, provided it is able to negotiate with the US bilaterally.

I have difficulty expressing how bored I have become with hearing that NK is engaging, disengaging, modifying, angry about, or any of a thousand other adverbs and adjectives describing how they are presently dissembling on so called peace talks. How about we ignore them altogether and go on about our own business while maintaining a rather strong deterrent capability that could be used should they decide to behave in an unacceptable manner?

It would be nice to do so, but unfortunately when one constantly has the threat of nuclear weapons, people tend to take notice.
