Google unveiled a new search tool known as Google Social Search on Tuesday. The searching tool enables content to appear based on the online information that appears in friends social networking media.
A Google account is required to utilize the new feature. When used, Google searches through contacts listed on Google services such as Gmail and Google Talk and delivers personalized results based on what friends are posting.
Google has emphasized that private information will not be picked up as a result of this search device.
"All the information that appears as part of Google Social Search is published publicly on the Web -- you can find it without Social Search if you really want to," a blog post by Google Search creators note. "What we've done is surface that content together in one single place to make your results more relevant."
Unfortunately Google Social Search does not support Facebook, causing many critics to wonder how effective this new feature will be.
