Cisco Systems finalized an agreement to purchase the ScanSafe security firm for $183 million. ScanSafe provides online Internet security for business both small and large.
The deal comes right off two previous purchases Cisco made earlier this month. One was a $3 billion dollar purchase of videoconferencing company Tandberg. The other purchase involved a $2.9 billion acquisition of Starent Networks, which created wireless internet gadgets.
"At a time when enterprises are increasingly focused on a flexible and mobile workplace, the need for hybrid-hosted Web security solutions is greater than ever," ScanSafe CEO Eldar Tuvey stated after announcing the deal. "By joining the Cisco team, we will be able to offer even better and more flexible protection to our customers."
After the deal is finished, ScanSafe employees will be joining Cisco. The transfer is expected to take place at the end of January.
