Netflix announced a new deal with Sony's Playstation 3 console on Monday. Starting in November, Playstation 3 users will be able to access Netflix content through their Playstation 3 console.
Users will be required to have a Netflix account in order to access the features, which can run from 9$-17$ a month depending on the amount of movies the user wishes to have out at one time. In order for the feature to work, Netflix will ship Playstation 3 owners a special blue-ray disc that will enable users to access their content.
The news delivers a serious blow to Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. The Xbox 360 has allowed Netflix content, but can only be accessed by users who have purchased the gold membership option that runs 50$ a month and requires a Netflix subscription. Playstation 3 owners only require the latter.
