Facebook users were in for a surprise Friday as they discovered that their home page underwent a transformation. Facebook has updated their homepage to allow users to toggle between two different feed options: a news feed, and a live feed.
The news feed automatically selects stories and posts from friends that have received the most comments or like clicks from others. Meanwhile, the live feed provides a constant update of all the activities your friends are doing. Both feeds will include updates that were previously relegated to the "highlights" section.
Just like previous updates to the website, the change has received large amounts of support and criticism from Facebook users. Facebook developers have asked for patience during the time of transition.
"We know it can be disruptive when things are moved around, but we hope that these changes make Facebook a more valuable experience for you," Facebook developers noted in a blog post.
I'm sure they get criticism because these changes happen without warning. They change it and it takes time to get used to, and once people are used to it, they change it again! This new change makes it more like Twitter.
