According to the lawyer for the balloon boy family, Richard and Mayumi Heene will likely face criminal charges for what was revealed to a hoax.
Last Thursday law enforcement went chasing after a runaway balloon suspected to hold a 6-year old. The charges could potentially include conspiracy, false reporting, and attempt to influence public officials.
However recent investigations have shown that Richard Heene perpetrated the stunt in order to promote a reality TV show that he was planning. E-mails between Heene and an associate suggest that Heene was planning a show involving science experiments. Heene's family previously appeared on the reality TV show Wife Swap.
Although no official charges have been made at this time, it is suspected that a decision will be reached within the next 24 hours.
"These folks are absolutely willing to turn themselves in, so I don't want to see a perp walk done for media consumption," Colorado defense attorney David Lane said on NBC's "Today'' show.
it's funny that Richard Heene would announce to the public that he was not doing it for the publicity, when later it is found that he had high hopes to feature himself in a reality tv show. I don't think committing wrong doings is the way to attract producers.
This is of little importance.. they wasted our day on fake news?? so are many of the little storys every news organization publishes.. they should be charged and conflicted of false report and forgotten
