Justice of Peace Denies Interracial Couple Marriage License

Advert
General News Share
“He is an elected official one of his duties is to marry people. He doesn’t have the right to say he doesn’t believe in it,” says NAACP branch president, Patricia Morris, after justice of the peace of Tangipahoa Parish, La., refused to give a marriage license to an interracial couple.
Keith Bardwell told Hammond’s Daily Star paper, that he worried about the children that could come from this relationship, saying that he believes most interracial marriages don’t last. Bardwell’s wife told Beth Humphrey, the bride, that Bardwell does not grant marriage licenses to interracial couples.
“I’m not a racist,” commented Bardwell. Humphrey would like that he would step down, because he is an elected official, and he is being racist.

I have been following this case in the news for several days now. It seems inconceivable that a public official could take this stance and then defend it in this manner. It seems all too closely related to the concept that the government officials seem to believe that they can limit rights of domestic partnerships based on factors that they wish. Maybe, this idiot will actually help to move forward the impetus for removing such obstacles and no longer issuing unAmerican laws such as the Protection of Marriage Act.

I hope that this stands as symbolic stance to further support fights against racism. This official should absolutely be confiscated of all his privileges.

This guy is a vestigial organ that is infected and needs to be cut out before he infects anyone else. But I've heard that it isn't that easy to get rid of a JP in Louisiana. Apparently the office is inherited or something..................

But considering where he lives, they're more likely to give him a medal and raise a statue of him! In front of the courthouse and holding a bible to boot!
