Colorado Balloon Family in Question of Possible "Hoax"

Colorado “Balloon Family,” face skeptics, saying that it was all a hoax for publicity, fueled by Thursday night’s appearance on “Larry King Live.”

For two hours on Thursday Falcon Heene, 6, had the nation holding their breath, as it appeared the child was stowed in a 20-foot flying saucer floating over the state of Colorado. Yet after the craft landed and no child was found, Falcon walked out of his garage saying he had been hiding in there the whole time. This comes into question because the boy’s brother told investigators he saw Falcon get into the balloon.

Later that night on “Larry King Live,” Wolf Blitzer, guest host, asked why Falcon did not come out of earlier when his name was called? Falcon replied without further explanation, “You guys said that we did this for a show.” The boy’s father tried to clean up the answer for his son that maybe he was talking about their previous time on television.

The family is no stranger to T.V. after the appeared multiple times on ABC show “Wife Swap.”

The appearance on “Larry King Live,” made the Sheriff of Larimer County, Jim Alderden, question their investigation. “That statement that was made last night in the interview raises the questions again. We do intend to go back and try and re-interview the family,” stated Alderden.

it is terrible what some people do to try to gain fame. It used to be that you actually had to be talented in order to gain publicity. Now it seems that people are trying to get in the spotlight anyway they can. However, in this instance particularly, they are wasting police officials time when they could be helping other people.

This was a terrible thing. There will be charges. For me, even worse than the enormous waste of resources, was putting that poor kid on TV and expecting him to lie. It made him sick, literally. Twice. And yet those lousy parents are dragging him around to perform. The parents met in an acting class and seem willing to do anything to get a tv slot.
