UCLA Campus was shocked Thursday afternoon after a student attacked another student in a chemistry lab on campus. 20 year-old Damon Thompson was arrested for on suspicion of attempted murder after slashing the throat of an unnamed female student.
The female student was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, which is on campus, and underwent surgery for multiple stab wounds. She was in stable condition as of Thursday night while showing signs of recovery.
The incident occurred after an organic chemistry class ended in the lab. Two teaching assistants found the victim staggering out of the lab. They worked to stabilize her condition while paramedics rushed onto the scene. UCLA sent out a text alert warning students to stay away from the area.
Detectives have been working to interview thirty witnesses that may have might have been around or seen the attack. No clear motive has been established for the attack at this time.
