British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has agreed to take place in US-style television and radio debates, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Brown had previously rejected the notion, which had been put forward by his frontrunning political opponents. However, he released a statement earlier today detailing that what is "important for the country is that there is a wide ranging series of television and radio debates with party leaders."
The opposition party leaders have already confirmed their intent to take part. However, analysts remain skeptical as to how the details will work out. It is unclear whether or not Nick Clegg, the leader of the weaker liberal democrats, will be participating, as Brown as emphasized only an intent to go head-to-head with his primary opponent.
