A NATO airstrike in Afghanistan both wounded civilians and possibly violated NATO rules, the Associated Press reported.
The airstrike in question was ordered by a German commander who received intelligence that only terrorists would be harmed in the strike. However, as the plane, piloted by U.S. soldiers, passed over the target, a crowd of around 120 people could seen.
The commanders deemed the people in question as militants, but recent evidence suggests that dozens of civilians may have been harmed in the process.
Both the U.S. and Germany have moved to shift blame for the incident onto the other – the U.S. claiming the fault lies with the German commander, while Germany claims that the fault is in the pilot's lack of judgment in dropping the bomb.
