Though NASA’s space shuttle Endeavour was supposed to take off at 7:14 P.M., weather interfered and postponed the launch until Monday.
According to The New York Times, lightning and rain were 20 miles away when the shuttle was preparing to liftoff from Kennedy Space Center, proving to be too risky.
“…The weather unfortunately did not cooperate with us today, we had some colliding sea breezes,” Launch Director Pete Nickolenko radioed a little after 7 P.M. tonight. “We’re going to have to declare a scrub for today and try to bring the team back for another attempt tomorrow.”
This is in a long list of problems, since three delays have taken place already.
Last month, there were two hydrogen leaks, and on Friday lightning struck the launch pad.
According to CNet News, there is a 40 percent chance that the weather will interfere with the take off tomorrow or Tuesday, posing a huge issue.
If the shuttle is not launched by Tuesday, it will be postponed until July 27 due to a high-priority Russian Progress resupply mission scheduled to launch.
