A bomb scare in a Bronx neighborhood caused panic early on Tuesday morning of last week.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., a resident of the Bronx neighborhood on Seymour Avenue stepped out of his home on his way to work. He spotted a green object which resembled a grenade on the steps on his home. He then proceeded to pick up the object. Noting that it was heavy, the man placed it back on the steps and called 911.
Within minutes, several officers arrived on the scene, followed by a bomb squad. News spread through the block as residents spilled onto the streets to survey the scene. As more emergency crews flooded the area residents from nearby homes were evacuated.
“I can’t believe something like this is happening! Why would someone do this?” Fanta Williams, a woman who resides at Seymour Avenue, said. “There are so many children in this area, so why would someone try to put people in harm? Even if the person who did this thought it would be funny, it's not.”
Residents waited in the rain as the bomb squad went to work while other officers searched the surroundings to see if any evidence regarding the perpetrator this could be found.
At around 9 a.m., the live grenade was safely removed from the area. It was then taken to a secure controlled area, where it will be detonated.
Happens everywhere these days, who can feel safe anywhere now. Simnple things like going home or taking public transport can be worrying to people.

There are always scares. Anything that shakes someones life up is going to be traumatizing. In my neighborhood someone did graffiti that said "F*&K Obama". I don't understand why people do these things. If they have an opinion why don't they show it a different way?
