The popular children’s television program Sesame Street will turn 40 on November 10th.
The public television show, which is produced by the Children's Television Workshop, debuted in 1969.
The anniversary special will host First Lady Michelle Obama. Obama will appear with Elmo and encourage children to incorporate healthy foods into their diet.
A spokesman told the Examiner that the show has remained relevant by keeping up with current technology and by changing the show's format to reflect the viewing needs of each new generation of preschoolers.
The television program continues to stay current with hot trends in popular culture by featuring regular spoofs of popular television shows, such as "Mad Men."
Sesame Street is the longest running children’s program in U.S history and runs in over 120 countries.
The show was created by the late Jim Henson.

I've been a fan of Sesame Street for a very long time. But doing spoofs of the show "Mad Men"? That seems odd. Don't they encourage smoking on that show?
