Freshman got shot by campus officer

A freshman from University of Southern Alabama was found erratically naked at midnight on campus. The 18-year-old victim, Gilbert Thomas Collar, was confronted and shot by the campus officer after his multiple attempts to calm the assailant down.
CNN reports, the officer heard a loud banging noise on the window at the station at midnight. According to the school: “ He (the officer) was confronted by a muscular, nude man who was acting erratically.” It was also said that the student repeatedly challenged the officer aggressively in both verbal and physical ways.
Disregarding multiple warnings from the officer, Collar ““continued to rush toward the officer in a threatening manner and ignored the officer’s repeated commands to stop.” Slate reports. Hence, the officer pulled out his weapon, fired a shot with his police sidearm, which struck Collar’s chest.
The reason for the officer to fire a gunshot at a nude student is still under investigation.
