Gunman kills and injures people near the Texas A&M campus

A civilian and police constable were killed in a shooting Monday afternoon near the Texas A&M Campus in College Station.

Officers responded to a call on Monday of an officer down and shots having been fired.

NBC reports that Brian Bachmann, a constable for Precinct 1 in Brazos County, was killed in the shooting. An unidentified civilian was also killed. Three other people were injured also; their injuries were not all by gunfire.

Rhonda Seaton of the College Station Police Department told CNN that several law enforcement officers were also shot.

The gunman was identified and is in custody, he was also injured during the gunfire.

The shooting happened about one block from campus. There are still officers at the scene “making sure there aren’t multiple suspects,” according to Officer Jason James of the Bryan Police Department.

The university warned people of an active shooter and told people to stay away from the intersection of Wellborn Road and George Bush Drive as well as a part of Fidelity Drive in College Station.
