A Tucson mother kills her children then attempts to kill herself
On Sunday, a Tucson, Arizona mother shot and killed her two children and then attempted to commit suicide.
Perla Morales, after being released from the hospital, was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail in Arizona on two counts of first-degree murder.
NBC News reports that 17-month-old Richard Rosovich, Jr. and 4-year-old Emma Rosovich were the victims of the shooting.
The shooting occurred just after 7 p.m. in a home at the 900 block of West Calle Colado in Tucson, where Morales was home alone with the children, Arizona Daily Star reports.
The 17-month-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 4-year-old and Morales were taken to a hospital where the girl later died, according to Sergeant Maria Hawke.
“Initial indications were that the mother of the children was home alone with them when the incident occurred,” Hawke said. “While in the residence with both kids, she retrieved a handgun and shot both of her children. The injuries that she sustained appeared to be self-inflicted, but were not life-threatening.”
A motive for the shooting has not been released for investigative reasons.
