Muslim man tortured, sentenced to death for selling his house to a Jew

A muslim man has been tortured and sentenced to death by the Palestinian Authority for selling his house to a Jew.

People are now pleading for international intervention to help the Palestinian man, Muhammad Abu Shahala, a former intelligence agent for the Palestinian Authority, according to the Weekly Standard. A letter to high-profile international officials, including U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, and Israel’s own Benjamin Netanyahu, calling for their help and intervention to save Abu Shahala’s life has been sent from various Jewish officials in Hebron.

David Wilder and Noam Arnon, of the Jewish community in Hebron, write in the letter addressed to Ban, Clinton, Netanyahu, and other high ranking officials: “It is incumbent upon the entire international community, which views Abu Mazen and the Palestinian Authority as a viable Middle East peace partner, to publicly reject such acts of legal murder, when the ‘crime’ is nothing more than property sales. What would be the reaction to a law in the United States, England, France, or Switzerland, forbidding property sales to Jews?”

The PA apparently drafted its own law years ago to replace the Jordanian statute known as the “Law for Preventing the Sale of Real Estate to the Enemy.” From a 2010 Jerusalem Post story, the Palestinian Authority seems to have affirmed the death penalty for land sales to Israelis. Palestinian officials seem to believe Abu Shahala was not even authorized to sell his own home to any Israeli, apparently because Jewish people are still considered ‘the enemy,’ no matter the money or time spent trying to make peace.

Still, the death warrant for Muhammad Abu Shahala must be signed by one man: Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, according to reports. A little more time is also left for a world leader to step forward, speak up and save someone who just wanted to sell his house.
