Jamie Lynn Spears talks about teenage pregnancy

Jamie Lynn Spears, who went from Nickelodeon TV star on Zoey 101 to teen mom in 2007, has finally opened up about her teenage experience.

Spears, now 20, believes that while it is tough for anyone to deal with relationships, sex, and pregnancy, she was judged more harshly because of her last name.

OTRC.com  reports that within just a few months of the pregnancy announcement her show was canceled. Although Spears and Casey Aldridge were engaged at the time, it was not enough to satisfy angry parents or the networks.

In an interview with Glamour magazine, Spears recalled her teenage mindset, the very one that resulted in baby Maddie Briann Aldridge being born in 2008.

“I believe[d] in safety and birth control as prevention. But like many young girls… I was really scared to go to the doctor. And I was on a Nickelodeon show, and it [felt] especially embarrassing to ask someone to put me on birth control,” she said.

She apologized for the disappointment of mothers and the confusion of young girls who looked up to her as a role model.

While Spears and Aldridge worked hard at being parents, they ultimately could not make it work. While she says she will always love Casey as her baby’s father, she is still looking for Mr. Right.

“I’m a mother first. I have a little girl, and until I’m serious about someone, he’s not going to be around her,” Spears said.

Jamie has proven to have a good head on her shoulders, keeping her priorities straight.

“I’m just patiently waiting for Prince Charming…” Spears muses, “… [but] as long as Maddie is healthy and she loves me, the rest doesn’t matter.”
