Hackers intercept call between Scotland Yard and FBI

The hacking network Anonymous has recently released confidential phone conversations between the FBI and the UK police. The collective group Anonymous have recently been targeting big institutions and BBC reports that the network also published an email which included the email addresses of those that participated in the call.

The hacking network Anonymous is a collective group of pranksters and hackers that have targeted governments and companies and institutions such as the Church of Scientology  in past years.

The recorded conversation discusses the tracking of Anonymous and other hacking groups, details regarding evidence and arrests. The two British men Ryan Cleary and Jake Davis were among the people discussed. They are wanted in the US because of perceived connections to Anonymous. In a tweet by Anonymous the group said, “The FBI might be curious why we are able to continuously read their internal comms.”

The phone call lasted 17 minutes and took place in January; The Sun reported that they have stated, “the information was intended for law enforcement officers only and was illegally obtained.”

It seems that what is pertinent is perhaps not the actual transcript of the phone calls but the means by which they were obtained. Karen Todner, Cleary’s lawyer said, ”If they haven’t secured their email it could potentially prejudice the investigation.”
