Murder-suicide suspect recorded herself smoking meth
A women who shot her two children, their father and a cousin before shooting herself recorded a video of herself smoking methamphetamine before the killings.
According to the Associated Press, this apparent murder-suicide began with Aide Mendez, 23, argued with the father of her two children, Eduardo Lopez, early Sunday morning.
The police arrived at Mendez’s apartment in California’s Central Valley to find Lopez outside with knife and gun shot wounds. Officers entered the first-floor apartment to find that Paul Medina, 27, as well as her two children, 17-month-old Aliyah Echeverria and Isaiah Echeverria, 3, were dead inside.
Mendez was found dead in the bathroom, and the children were found in the bathtub.
CBS News reported that Mendez took a video of herself taking methamphetamine on her iPad before the shootings took place. Officials said that the preliminary evidence shows that the video was recorded only a few hours before the incident.
Other drugs may possibly been involved, but toxicology reports will take weeks to come back, CBS News reported.
Lopez is in critical condition at a local hospital with a gun-shot wound to the neck and several stab wounds, the Associated Press reported.
Neighbors said that there was no indication of violence between Mendez and Lopez before this incident. The couple lived in the back of a gated apartment complex with a neat lawn and a children’s playground, the Associated Press reported.
